Verbal SMS Opt-In — Script & Consent Process

Published: July 28, 2026

About this document

This page documents Geekytek's verbal (in-person or phone) SMS opt-in process, used when a customer schedules or completes a service appointment and provides a mobile phone number. It's published here for SMS compliance review, alongside our SMS & Text Messaging Terms.

This is a live, two-way conversation between a Geekytek employee and the customer — not an automated announcement or IVR system.

Process

  1. The customer provides a mobile phone number while scheduling or completing a service appointment, in person or by phone.
  2. The Geekytek employee reads the disclosure below aloud, verbatim.
  3. The customer must respond with an explicit affirmative reply (for example, "Yes," "Sure," or "That's fine") before being enrolled.
  4. If the customer does not respond affirmatively — including silence, a non-answer, or "no" — the employee does not enroll the number, and no text messages are sent.
  5. Only after an affirmative reply does the employee mark the customer as opted in.

The script

"May we text you at this number with a follow-up on your service and a review request? You'll receive up to three messages per completed job. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Our Terms of Service are at geekytek.com/sms-terms and our Privacy Policy is at geekytek.com/privacy."
