SMS & Text Messaging Terms

About this program

Geekytek ("we", "us") sends text messages to customers who have engaged us for computer repair, network installation, security & surveillance, cybersecurity, cloud computing, or IT consulting work. These messages relate directly to the service you requested — a short check-in after we complete a job, and, if everything looks good, a one-time request to share your experience in a quick online review.

Enrollment happens through one of two opt-in paths — online, or in person when you schedule service.

Path 1 — online: opt in yourself using the form at geekytek.com/sms-optin. You actively check an unchecked-by-default, optional consent box whose label includes message frequency, "message and data rates may apply," that consent is not a condition of any purchase, and STOP/HELP instructions — you're only enrolled in texts if you check it.

Path 2 — in person or by phone: at the time you schedule or complete a service appointment, when you provide a mobile phone number, we ask for your permission before enrolling you, using consent language equivalent to:

"May we text you at this number with a follow-up on your service and a review request? You'll receive up to three messages per completed job. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Our Terms of Service are at geekytek.com/sms-terms and our Privacy Policy is at geekytek.com/privacy."

This is a live, two-way conversation — not an automated announcement — and you are only enrolled after you give an explicit affirmative reply. The full script and consent process are published at geekytek.com/sms-verbal-consent.

These are the only two opt-in paths — no keyword enrollment, no purchased or third-party lists. Consenting to text messages is optional and is never a condition of purchasing any Geekytek service. You are never enrolled for marketing or promotional texts unrelated to a service you requested.

Message frequency & samples

You'll typically receive up to three messages tied to a single completed job:

  1. A check-in shortly after the work is finished — e.g. "Hi [Name], it's [Owner] from Geekytek. Just checking in to make sure everything looks good with the [service] we did today."
  2. If we don't hear back, a request to share a review — e.g. "Hi [Name], [Owner] here from Geekytek. Thanks again for the opportunity to work with you. If you've got 30 seconds, would you mind sharing your experience in a quick review? [link]"
  3. One reminder, only if you haven't clicked the review link yet — e.g. "Just a quick follow-up. If you haven't had a chance yet, we'd really appreciate a quick review. [link]"

Message frequency depends entirely on your own service activity with us — there is no recurring or scheduled messaging outside of a completed job.

Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Message frequency varies as described above.

Opting out & getting help

  • Reply STOP to any message at any time to stop receiving texts from Geekytek. You'll receive one confirmation message and no further texts.
  • Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us directly at support@geekytek.com.

Privacy

Your phone number is used only to operate this messaging program and is never sold, rented, or shared for marketing purposes by us or any partner. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information more broadly.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes to this messaging program, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
